3 Time-Savers for Efficient Printing

admin : January 31, 2016 12:16 pm : Main Posts, Portland, Print, Vancouver

Little breaks aren’t frowned upon, in fact, they’re encouraged! Taking a small walk or chatting with coworkers can keep your mood up and positively influence your productivity.

However, if you find that you’re taking all your breaks trying to get your printer to work, then you’re only adding to stress. No one wants to spend minutes upon minutes fussing with a stubborn machine. The time that’s wasted at a printer is, on average, 3 minutes.

3 minutes can make or break your day. It can be the difference between being on time or late. 3 minutes can be time spent making coffee or getting home a little earlier. Champion Business Solutions wants to help you get back those 3 minutes. We are saving your time with efficient printing.

Time for an Upgrade

The best investment your office can make is an office solution that you can trust. There are many options that you can choose depending on your price range, workload, and your business structure. Champion Business Solutions is providing office equipment to the Vancouver and Portland areas for every business needs. Choose from simplistic but efficient black and white printers or color machines for high workload.

Duplex Printing

The unsung hero of the printer world. Duplex printing (or double-sided printing) is a cheap, easy way to save paper while keeping efficiency. Program your office printer to duplex printing for an office-wide green initiative.

Print from Beyond

We don’t mean the afterlife, but from a distance! With Xerox, you can print directly from your Mobile app or your email. No matter what you choose, it’s easy to use. IT managers and administrators no longer need to manage unique drivers for various print devices – print from any mobile device, to any printer, regardless of brand. With simple Mobile printing, you can print from any mobile device, laptop or desktop. Print to any brand of printer or MFP.

Saving Time in Portland

Champion Business Solutions is just a call or click away from transforming your business into a productive, efficient powerhouse. Blow through the competition with the best tools in the business. If you find that your employees are spending more time trying to get the printer to work, or fussing with printer programs, it is probably time to invest in an office solution.

3 minutes doesn’t sound like a lot, does it? Xerox did the math and calculated that in a company of 500 people, 3 minutes add up to an astonishing 6,500 lost hours each year. Suddenly 3 minutes has a greater impact. Check out this infographic to see what could be done with those hours.

7 Questions Your Office Needs Answers To in 2016

admin : December 23, 2015 12:17 pm : Main Posts, Managed Print Services, Office Assessment, Portland, Print, Vancouver

The Holidays are here and just beyond that is 2016! Champion Business Solutions is providing excellent New Year office solutions to local Portland and Vancouver offices. Before you invest in a new machine; we’re answering all of your questions.

How much should I pay for a new machine?

This depends on what your business needs, how large your workflow is, and of course, what’s your budget. We have a variety of printers that have various capabilities including copy, print, fax, and scan. You can spend in the low hundred or over a thousand depending on the features and work capacity that you need.

Not sure what your office needs? Give us a call for an office assessment. We analyze your print environment to identify areas of opportunities and cost-effective solutions

What’s the difference between copy machine speeds?

Copier speeds are sorted by six segments:

  • Segment 1 – 11-20 ppm
  • Segment 2 – 21-30 ppm
  • Segment 3 – 31-40 ppm
  • Segment 4 – 41-69 ppm
  • Segment 5 – 70-90 ppm
  • Segment 6 – 91+ ppm

Segments are a good guide to decide what would be the best fit for your company. We have a printer for all workloads. Whether you’re making simple black and white copies, or full-service color prints.

What are “multi-function devices”? Is there a difference between them and a regular copier or printer?

Multi-function devices have many more features than your average copier or printer. Multi-function printers (MFPs) have copy, print, fax, and scan capabilities, as well as increased ppm and functionality.

I mostly print in black and white but occasionally like to make color copies, what should I do?

Consider how much time you spend on color prints and what the future looks like for your business. Color is an eye-catcher, increases retention, and leaves an impression on readers, customers, and coworkers. We have a selection of simple color devices that may be a good fit for your company.

We have five people in our office and we don’t make a ton of copies, what would our best options be?

Black and White printers are relatively inexpensive but still pack a punch for those days when you have a high workload. With an office assessment done by our professionals, we can find out what your print environment looks like and find a solution for you! We also provide inexpensive leasing for businesses that do not print/copy a lot.

What are the most important things I need to know about finding a copier/printer/MFP?

Finding office equipment for your business doesn’t have to be an arduous task. Champion Business Solutions is here to help you through everything you need to know. Service contracts are a big part of finding a machine. The fine print can be daunting but our staff will go through everything with you so you can rest assured that you know what to expect. Always ask questions if you have any concerns regarding your machine. We are dedicated to you and your business’s success.

What features should I consider for my device?

Depending on the make and model you choose, you can explore the luxury of options. Machines can have various paper tray sizes, capacities, sorting and finishing options ranging from simple (multiple bins and stapled copies) to bin-free sorting (documents set at right angles to separate them) and folding, three-hole-punches and much more!

Find the right fit for your business with Champion Business Solutions!

Going Green for the Holidays

admin : November 30, 2015 5:30 pm : Energy Efficiency, Main Posts, Portland, Print, Vancouver

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Tinsel and trees are popping up all over the nation. Windows are being decorated with snowflakes, jingle bells, and while the green is disappearing from outdoors, replaced with frost and snow, there is plenty of green to be seen indoors.

Going green seems to be more than a traditional holiday decoration, though. It’s becoming a vital component of our everyday. Why not go green in the office as well!

We are all printing advocates but it’s no secret that there needs to be a sizable shift towards a sustainable printing future. In our technological day and age, it’s not what you print but how you print it. Champion Business Solutions is is taking active steps towards a greener future and we are bringing you with us so that we can all contribute to a green, energy efficient future.

Responsibility is a large part of our commitment to a sustainable and green initiative. According to a 2009 study by the Print Industries Market Information and Research Organization, printing’s greatest impact on the environment is from paper—both production and subsequent waste generated in the printing process.

PRIMIR reports that the paper industry is the fourth largest emitter of greenhouse gases among U.S. manufacturing industries, and contributes 9% of total carbon dioxide emissions from manufacturing processes. The paper industry is the second largest user of electricity in the United States, at 75 billion kilowatt hours in 2006. This has only increased in recent years.

Not to put a damper on the holiday spirit. As the old saying goes, where there’s a will, there’s a way. The print industry all over the world is taking our environment and sustainability serious with Green initiatives and alternatives. Together we are making a considerable difference in printing.

What we print, when we print, and how we print.

Want to include your business in the green initiative? Would you like to establish an energy efficient New Year Resolution for 2016. There are a number of things you can do for your equipment and around the office to make a positive impact towards your printing environment.

  • Buying ENERGY STAR® and eco-label certified devices
  • Use intelligent software to manage energy use
  • Reduce paper usage with default two-sided (duplex) printing
  • Use Cartridge-free, solid ink
  • Take a part in take-back and recycling programs

There is a sustainable future in printing thanks to your support and corporate responsibility. Take part in the Xerox Green World Alliance and help us save even more! This program is dedicated to reusing and recycling various parts and supplies from office equipment. Since its beginning, the Green World Alliance has had more than 2.7 million cartridges and toner containers returned. Become part of a green movement.

At Champion Business Solutions, we take Going Green very seriously! Find out what else you can do to help here.

Who You Gonna Call?

admin : October 30, 2015 3:21 pm : Main Posts, Office Assessment

Is there a ghost lingering in your office? It may not be the kind that you’re used to hearing about; a spooky semblance of a person long since past, but a technological kind that’s eating up your costs, your ink, and draining your productivity? It’s time to call!

For lingering office ghosts, there’s only one place to call;

Champion Business Solutions!

Office assessments may not be a top priority but once you consider the benefits, you’ll realize that they really should. The technological world is constantly growing, new devices mean upgrades and changes in software. Printers, copiers, and multi-function devices are an integral aspect of your office. From clients to employees, the efficient performance of your printers is a must-have for your business’ success. Xerox says it best,

“It doesn’t matter what size your business it; if you want to get output costs under control and set the stage for improvements in productivity and work process, you have to start with an assessment.”

Office assessments are the easiest, most effective way to deal with possible printer issues and develop a solution towards them. Typically there are four areas in an office assessment that we focus on:

  • Management Process
  • Supplies
  • Device Proliferation
  • Hidden Costs

Within each of these, our technicians carefully inspect the devices within your network and IT areas, as well as delve into input, output, and your environmental impact.

When you schedule an office assessment, you are giving experts the opportunity to collect data that can identify areas of opportunity within your document infrastructure and help us develop a plan of action to get your business where it needs to be. It’s not uncommon for businesses to go unaware of these problems. A Corporate Printing study by the IDC identified that companies can spend between 2-3% of their annual revenues on documents and document-related issues. Within your printer and multi-function devices, there can be hidden cost areas that you may not even be aware of.

Don’t waste your time and money with troubled devices; contact us today for your office assessment and start saving today!

Four Components of ROI Calculators

admin : July 30, 2015 3:41 pm : Main Posts

Assess your printing costs and take control of your office. Every business should use a Return on Investment (ROI) calculator to determine the costs to produce graphics, what amount of print volume produced at a specific cost and sold at a particular price is required to pay off the capital investment, and what amount of profit can be realized on a monthly basis. Canon Solutions America has released helpful tips that exemplifies how a business can use the ROI to identify whether the Canon UV flatbed printer is a profitable investment for their business. In order to understand how the ROI data coincides with your business, look at the 4 key components.

Gross Revenue

Allows for entering the price per square foot that the printed piece is expected to sell for and adjusting the “hours printing per day” value to what it would take to accomplish a specific volume of work shown or match to the availability of staff to operate the printer. This feature also allows providers to input print speeds, wastage value, and other calculated values that are useful in determining how much blank substrate is required for a specific volume of work and what would be invoiced per month for the total printed work.

Material Costs

The calculated value of all material costs, including substrates and UV lamps. Depending on the substrate type and sheet size, the amount purchased, and the vendor, the total cost can all vary considerably.

Overheads

The amount paid to operators per hour and the amount of time allocated to an operator to run the printer and conduct related tasks, such as maintenance, calculates the daily cost for the operator to run work on the printer. This gives both the calculated monthly labor cost and combined monthly labor and materials cost.

Investment and Return

The total amount of the printer purchase and related items including: starter kits, options and accessories, training, delivery and installation, etc. Payback in months represents how long it is necessary to print before the investment in the system has been covered based on what was entered for Revenue, Material Costs and Overheads.

ROI calculators and subsequent data is giving businesses in every industry an insight in their printing costs and identifying areas of opportunity. To learn more contact Champion Business Solutions today.

Printing Importance in the Workplace

admin : May 29, 2015 5:58 pm : Main Posts

Printing will never be obsolete despite what many people think. If anything, it’s more important than ever. Print is seeing a rise in their print marketing and, more importantly, they’re seeing results. Forbes highlights 4 reasons why print’s making a comeback: Tangibility, Credibility, Target Marketing, and Engagement. Print is here to stay for many reasons but one of the most noteworthy is that it’s trustworthy. Consumers of all ages, while committed to digital devices, still like something they can hold and feel. Maybe it’s innate or simply nostalgic but there’s something about printed materials that feel (physically and mentally) tangible.

Tangibility

Just as we said above, tangibility is a large factor in trust, call to action, and ultimately success. Even something as simple as EDDM, printed coupon, or brochure gives the consumer a feeling of stability and reliability.

Credibility

There is something about print that gives a sense of legitimacy. The saturation of popups and banner ads on the web can be overwhelming and the fear of spam and viruses is enough make people weary of clicking. There is no imminent danger in a print ad.

Target Marketing

Expand your reach by placing ads in various publications and materials. This can help you reach the target audience of your choice in a memorable manner.

Engagement

Forbes says, “Consumers are more engaged when reading printed material, unlike websites, which are often skimmed in as little as a 15 second visit. A study shows that people read digital screen text 20% – 30% slower than printed paper. (Alshaali & Varshney, 2005)” Retention is higher among printed materials; they remember what they’re reading and your company’s name will stick in their memory, possibly helping you in the future.

Champion Business Solutions is helping your bottom line so that you can succeed in all of your endeavors. “Wow!” your customers with the highest quality print materials every time.

Xerox Launches New Document Management Tools

admin : April 30, 2015 4:51 pm : Document Management, Main Posts

Xerox is launching new Document Management Tools to the mobile world! They’re set to be released in a few months for mobile apps. Mike Feldman, President of Large Enterprise Operations for Xerox Services, told CMS Wire that “the releases are a continuation of the company’s objective to automate and simplify the document management cycle.” What we know right now is that the apps will be focused on processes and people. There are three stages of print that Xerox is hoping to improve upon:

1. Assess and Optimize

2. Security and Integration

3. Automation and Simplifying Processes

The mobile apps will connect businesses in a more efficient and scalable way. Xerox has been focused on mobile processes for a while now and these apps are showing just how committed they are to extending their services. The apps will range from Supply Chain Optimization to helping employees create and share information without servers or IT support. Business all over the world are working towards a paperless office. Environmental and corporate responsibility is what’s driving companies towards greener practices and we’re on board with this exciting direction.

“Organizations can have a love-hate relationship with paper. It remains critical to everything from invoicing to collaboration, but it can also cripple productivity. That’s why workflow automation is a business priority,” said Mike Feldman, President of Large Enterprise Operations at Xerox. “Eliminating the inherent issues of manual, paper-based work streams can improve operations and accelerate benefits derived from managed print services.”

Xerox is paving the way towards the future of business. Anticipating future needs and concerns are vital for any company and Xerox is leading the way, focusing on the innovations in technology and current business practices to assess where we’re going. The apps are scheduled to be released in the coming months so keep an eye out for them. They may just be the next big thing for your business.
